Cyber Bank Heist: A Case Study with FBI Special Agent
Title: Cyber Bank Heist: A Case Study with FBI Special Agent
Topic Description: Over the past two years, cyber actors have been operating a sophisticated scheme to defeat multi-factor authentication (MFA) in business banking to steal millions from unsuspecting victim organizations. The scheme leverages numerous cyber-based attack methodologies, including search engine manipulation, website spoofing, caller ID spoofing, social engineering, e-mail spam, and DDoS attacks (among others). The scheme also involves use of a sophisticated operation to recruit, vet, and operate thousands of U.S.-based money mules. During this presentation, FBI Special Agent Jon Windness will provide a detailed account of how the scheme works and lead a discussion of what can be done to better protect against this attack methodology.
